Information for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users

The Drachenfelsbahn is generally accessible to people with disabilities.

Please note the following regulations regarding the transport of wheelchairs:

Transport of wheelchairs

  • Maximum dimensions: 70 × 110 cm
  • Maximum weight: 150 kg
  • Electric wheelchairs are not permitted.

Registration Information

Wheelchair users are advised to register in advance so that, if possible, a wheelchair can be provided for rental on site: info@drachenfelsbahn.de

Capacity

  • A maximum of two wheelchairs can be transported per railcar
  • If demand exceeds capacity, wheelchairs will be accepted in the order of arrival

  • Step-free access to all relevant areas
  • Mobile ramps for boarding and alighting
  • Storage space available in the railcar
  • Accessible restroom at the valley station
  • Parking spaces available for people with disabilities

  • There is no audio induction loop system available.
  • Seating is available.

  • Outdoor paths do not have visually contrasting and/or tactilely detectable walkway boundaries.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • The signage (for orientation) is designed in easily legible and high-contrast lettering.
  • All areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
  • The first and last steps of the staircase at the main entrance have horizontal and vertical contrasting edges. There are handrails on both sides.
  • There are floor indicators (e.g. guiding strips) on the platforms.
  • Seating is available.
  • Information is not available in Braille or prismatic writing.

General information: Please note that the Drachenfels is a nature reserve and may not be accessed by private vehicle. The Drachenfelsbahn is therefore the only means of access to the attractions apart from the footpath.
